We had to test drive this minimalist challenge before encouraging others, so we’ve been doing this through out September, and so far it has been a game changer. Talk about momentum to cleanse, detox, de-clutter, purify, purge and chuck! I’m sure by now you are wondering what we are talking about. Well this little exercise is very powerful and certainly builds momentum to keep on clearing out things that no longer serve you.

How the minimalist game works:

  • Firstly grab a friend, family member or colleague who could also do with a little de-cluttering / environmental cleansing. Doing this with someone else helps to you accountable and gives you someone to bounce ideas off.
  • On the first day of October you will find one item that you no longer need and remove it from your home.
    • Think, clothes, furniture, jewellery, ornaments, accessories, books – basically anything can go! It can be donated to the op shop, put in bin, or if you want to sell it, you must upload it online the day you chose to get rid of it. Job done!
  • On the second day, you will throw out two items, on the third day, three and so on all the way to 31 items on the 31st of October.

By the end of the month you will have removed 496 items from your life, and we can tell you it feels amazing!
